i smell great

i went to the health food shop today and got some shampoo, conditioner and body wash that not only smell fantastic, all herby and delicious, but don't contain all those bad things that start with laurel, which in itself doesn't sound that bad. hopefully, not only will i save the planet single handedly and a few dolphins but my skin won't resemble a dried up, mouldy leaf from the garden. yes, i exaggerate slightly but you know what i mean. of course, menopause has nothing to do with it. the products were a tad more expensive that i usually pay from the supermarket but i hope that they will be worth it. ps my computer is making a funny crackling noise.

a website i love

now at first glance this website is everything i hate. it's pretty silly and has that stupid annoying spelling. i don't know any cats who talk like this :) and it's a bit kitchy for my tastes but they have the most adorable cat pics and the captions are so cute they just grow on you. if you can get around the spelling, which i am managing to do surprisingly, have a look if you like and enjoy :)

holidays

hello, it's been a little while since my last post. christmas and the weekend were busy, my grandson stayed over saturday night. we always have fun together, he's 11 now. he told me he's starting puberty and he's a young man now. awwww. they had their presents and turkey for lunch. i actually put two presents away because i bought them so much. it's ridiculous, their grandmother buys them lots, their mother buys them lots and i buy them lots. crazy to give them so many toys and the toys are expensive. the baby born doll was nearly $50.00 for heaven's sake. so i have their b/day presents and let's face it they didn't miss a toy each. they were more than pleased with their loot. santa was very generous. i had to take Anthony back to kmart because santa bought him two transformers which were the same. the girl behind the counter was great, she humoured us although i'm sure ants doesn't believe in santa anymore. the kids at school tell them really early these days don't they? kids aren't kids long enough, these days they want to grow up so fast, i'm sure my mother never said the same about me hahaha. i'm not working this week so am pottering around at home. i cleaned out my kitchen drawers yesterday, they weren't as bad as i thought. i've started on my filing system today. omg it's a mess. i've got to chuck stuff out and declutter. funny that word wasn't around a few years ago and now there are websites about decluttering. i'm still planning to put stuff on ebay, i started but need some more photos. it's not a hard process just time consuming. i'll get the hang of it i suppose. how exciting to actually sell something that you no longer need and get some extra money. usually i give everything i don't want to my daughter or the second hand shop so of course, her life/house is cluttered. she's moving back in with her partner in the next few days, luckily she doesn't have far to travel, it's just around the corner. trouble is she's going to have far too much stuff and will take forever to get some sort of order if at all. she's not very organised.

RIP Miss Eartha Kitt

i've just heard the news that Miss Eartha Kitt has passed away and i'm am truly saddened. i've just finished her book Rejuvenate! It's Never Too Late and the biography written a while ago was a very interesting read. she had an amazing life and rose from a childhood of poverty, abuse and being unwanted and unloved. she was an outspoken activist for the rights of blacks and women. she was a true star, one of the old breed that are sadly disappearing. she died at age 81 of colon cancer. RIP dear Miss Kitt

jewellery and ebay

i've been beading most of the day. i'm fixing some necklaces Liyana got in egypt. they are too long and according to her get lost in her cleavage. i said she's lucky to have cleavage. i realised today, oh ok, i knew this already, that i have millions and millions of beads. if i live to be 202 i couldn't possible use them all. i'm like this with hair products too, sort of a compulsive buying thing. how many hair products can a person use? one at a time would be sensible. my mother use to get a store of things like tea, soap etc. she grew up in the depression and these things were in short supply. she also had, when she died, a lot of stuff with the price tags still attached. she loved books and records (yes, vinyl discs that played music and got scratched very easily). she said to me once, i've just bought the latest book by 'insert author' but i'm going to put it away and not read it yet and save it for later after i've done this, this and this. such a waste imo. i know i've said this before, probably last new year's but i really need to quell my spending on stuff i've already got enough of. i collect Buddha’s, cats, chinese ginger jars, books, cds/dvds and a huge range of stuff. it's staggering. no wonder my life feels cluttered and i haven't even mentioned clothes and handbags. today i decided to remove the digit and sell stuff on ebay. i've got an antique phone on the kitchen table waiting to be photographed. i will do it today. yes i will.

a meal to forget (hopefully)

yuck yuck yuck. i just heated up a lean cuisine for tea. wait for it ... beef sausages and mashed potato. sounds yummy doesn't it? let me tell you i have never had such a disgusting meal in my life. oh, ok, some of my parents in law's dinners were pretty gross. (i loved my parents in law but cooking was not their forte, think grey unrecognisable veggies and meat things ... too gross to mention, they did a nice ((if slightly overcooked)) roast though). before i had my shoulder surgery i cooked lots and put meals in my small freezer. great habit. cook a meal put half in the freezer. come home from work and just heat it up. great. well, the other night in the supermarket i went nuts and bought two lean cuisines. big mistake. they have their place in a single working full time woman's life but they usually leave me hungry and are not super tasty. well, this sausages and mash meal surpassed disgusting and i couldn't eat it, and for me that's something. so i had a banana and some devine italian chocolate hearts with some delish indonesian coffee. now that's better. i'm watching one of my fave shows: food safari on sbs. i love cooking shows/dvds, so relaxing. have a great Christmas day tomorrow everyone.

henna

my son put henna in my hair for me yesterday. i like it, it's quite red and it's supposed to intensify within days. the grey is a lighter red than the rest. i like it although it was v. messy to wash out. omg it looked like a couple of buckets of slush were thrown in the shower. it took ages to rinse clean and it does smell ever so slightly. not unpleasant just get a whiff of it occasionally and it's a plantish smell. (i know that's not a word). was fairly easy to put on and i mixed it the night before with vinegar. if you put beetroot juice in the mix it gives it a blue tinge and lemon juice is supposed to be good. i drove home in a shower hat with gladwrap on my head. son gave me a cap to wear going home. i had to leave it in for three hours. was all ok. after we put it on we played on his new wii. wow i love it. i might get one. he got wii fit and we did yoga, bowled, there's a tightrope thingy which is way hard and lots of other stuff.

cats

i found this on another blog recently. amazing story. i love cats

A one-year-old boy has been found living rough on the streets, apparently being kept alive by cats. The boy was discovered by police in Misiones, in Argentina, surrounded by eight wild cats. Doctors believe the animals snuggled up with him during freezing nights which would otherwise have killed him. The boy was seen eating scraps foraged by the animals while they licked him.Policewoman Alicia Lorena Lindgvist discovered the child by a canal in the Christ King district of the city. She said: "I was walking and noticed a gang of cats sitting very close together. It is unusual to see so many like that so I went for a closer look and that's where I saw him. The boy was lying at the bottom of a gutter. There were all these cats on top of him licking him because he was really dirty. "When I walked over they became really protective and spat at me. They were keeping the boy warm while he slept." The officer, who noticed scraps of food near the boy, added: "The cats knew he was fragile and needed protecting." Police have found the boy's father who is homeless and said he had lost the boy several days ago while out collecting cardboard to sell. He told officers cats had always been protective of his son.

interesting isn't it?

clutter

i've mentioned this just recently and i'm drowning in it. discs seem to be one of my main problems. i have thousands of the little suckers. what to do with them is the problem as i've tried most ways to store them. the folders with plastic inserts just got too bulky to close, stacking them didn't work as there's too many. the one storage solution i do like is little boxes. i also have a prob. with boxes, hundreds of them around the house too. i got a label maker. i like tins to store things in too, got lots of those. i'm trying to concentrate on one room at a time as this seems like a logical thing to do. however ... things are not going as smoothly as i'd hoped. i've managed to put away (read hide) things but now the problem remains of going through them, sorting etc etc. too hard.
i made curried sausages today as we had our secret santa breakfast yesterday and had mountains of food left over. i brought some sausages home and cooked them up in a spicey malaysian curry thingy. speaking of malaysian, i went to the market last night after work (no parking problems) as i had to drop off a friend. i couldn't help myself and indulged in some malaysian satays even though i'd been grazing all day. i also had a nice glass of dry white when i got home. i have been home all day today which is a rare luxury for me. an exhausting week just gone i can only hope that next week, being a short one, is much calmer. we close early on christmas eve and then i don't go back to work until the 5th january. yay. as previously stated i plan to clean. that's the plan anyway.

ac/dc

i love acca dacca. i'm watching a special on the teev atm. they've still got it. i'm in a real cleaning mood. it happens occasionally. i feel snowed under by clutter and plan to do something about it when i have some time off over Christmas. i'm also stiff and sore, legs mostly, so feel i must do something about that too namely some exercise. i'm so slack, after my shoulder surgery and months of therapy and exercise i have slacked off and it's really hurting again. it's so unfair. move it or lose it they say and i'm afraid it's true. i'm looking for a yoga class nearby because although i have 3000 instructional dvds on the subject i find it hard to keep up the momentum of doing exercise alone. me and a few thousand others i suspect. well, Mandy will be leaving tomorrow for her well earned hols so happy holidays Mandy, come back safe and have fun. i'm planning to henna my hair sometime soon. i hope i can talk my son into doing it for me. he coloured my hair last time and did a great job. better than my daughter. he was so careful and took his time. he does his partner's and is very good at it. henna is very messy and a long process. you have to leave it on for hours after wrapping your head in plastic wrap. maybe one of the African shops do it. apparently you need to mix it the night before as it take time to develop. well, my kitchen floor must be dry by now so i'm off to put a few more things in order and then bed.

pizza

last night i had pizza and watched the mummy 3 at Liyana's place. pizza was very nice, in fact, i just had a slice for breakfast. we stopped the movie about a third of the way through because it was just BAD. we are both major brendan fans and we couldn't stand it. it was painful. so..... we put mama mia on as i hadn't seen it at the movies and it was great. loved it. L has seen it about six times now. it's out on video. she has a wide screen tv so it was good. we had coffee and double chocolate tim tams for dessert and watched bellydance dvds (she's a bd teacher). that was good too :)
i went to munno para shopping centre yesterday and had a disastrous day with my daughter. it was hideous. she left and i went back to get some presents, when i got to the checkout i discovered i'd left my card in my jeans which were at home. bad day. i'm planning on going to the shops today. wish me luck

scrabble

i went to maz's house last night for dinner. roast lamb, yum, very nice. we played scrabble until the wee small hours and i mostly lost. maz gave me a vibrating pillow for christmas, it's beautiful soft velour. feels lovely. i'm meeting the kids at the shops today and tonight going to see Liyana for pizza and a brendan frasier movie. love brendan.
dustin is ok. i've got to top his water up today and i fed him for the first time last night. he looks so lonely in there all by himself. can't put a pic in this post AGAIN.

pet update

note to self #4212 do not buy blue gravel for the blue siamese fighter fish. big mistake. can hardly see him. live and learn. i hope he survives

i am no longer petless. is that a word?

well i have a pet finally. it's a blue siamese fighter fish. apparently they only live for three years. that can't be right can it? that might be why my last one died, it was old age. :( i got a little tank and some food and some gravel. i can't decide whether to call him zimmerman, after bobby, or, dustin, after dustin nguyen. i'll sleep on it. i also bought myself a present. it's a pink pepper grinder. i've got one already but it's ordinary. i need a garlic crusher but forgot to get one.

fish

my son gave me a voucher last christmas from an aquarium place because i wanted some goldfish for the pond. good son. i'm going tonight after work to get a fish. the voucher runs out on the 15th. leaving it a bit late? yes. why? because the aquarium is on the other side of town. not that far away but i just don't get down that way very often. obviously. i thought i'd get a siamese fighting fish. i've got the bowl already. it's a nicely sized bowl. i hate to see those poor little fish in those tiny bowls. they even had a bloody ipod with a fish (live) in it. really!

what the?

i bought this vegetable chopper. it's great for garlic but ...

the dentist

i went to the dentist this morning and he said i've sprained a ligament in my tooth. get out!!!!!!! i do not lie, this is what he said. it could have been the helga's pitta chips i was eating boxes of a month or so ago. they are like rocks. he ground down the tooth below it to give it some room and relieve the pressure. he also took an xray and will ring if there's anything urgent. otherwise he wants to see me in january. you won't believe this, or maybe you will, but the tooth on the other side down the bottom hurts now. ahhhhhhhhhhhh

well that was interesting

i'm attaching pics of the sausages and satays i bbqed. (i got the sausages as a back up plan). very interesting experience. it smoked a lot and i think it wasn't hot enough at the end. maybe i should have waited until the coals got hotter but i don't know how to make that happen. more coals? i wish i knew. anyway, the taste. sausages were ok and satays a little bland. i think it needed more marinating time. they weren't horrible but could have been better. they weren't as good as the ones from the market the other day. oh well, back to the drawing board.

ok, forget the washing machine, i got a bbq

i'll do a scarlett and worry about the washing machine tomorrow. truth: my son is coming over later. but on a lighter note i got a bbq. it's a little weber lookalike. should that be webber? anyway, weber was too expensive. i'm going to fire it up soon. i got charcoal and wood things and paper. it should be good. i hope. i'm not really into bbqing but i'll give it my best. how hard can it be? hahaha. i'm going to make chicken satay. i'll let you know how they turn out. wish me luck :)

i just broke the washing machine

omg. i turned it on and found something that i forgot to put in so i pressed the off button and now nothing. i can't undo the door. nothing works. i've turned it on and off. it's not an electronic model so it shouldn't be stuffed completely. and my washing is inside. helpppppppppppppppp

the zoo

adelaide zoo has changed somewhat since my last visit. get out of town. that was quite a few years ago. i think it may have been my 40th birthday. yes, a year or two ago. we had a great time. very tiring. first of all it was difficult to get a park. we had to park ages away but at least it was free. there seem to be a lot of dead ends within the zoo, and there are constructions going on all over it. also, i noticed that there are less animals in each enclosure, and of course, the enclosures have been changed around big time. i packed sandwiches, snacks and water but decided to go get us a coffee. forty minutes later i asked for my money back because the coffees hadn't arrived. they have a buzzer system. you order, they give you a buzzer with a number and buzz you when it's ready. my buzzer didn't go off and i noticed there were about six coffees waiting for someone in the bit behind the counter. no-one came to get them so they would have been cold by the time they did. i asked the girl if they were mine but alas no. the buzzer system is a good idea, the chemist i go to has one. never mind, i didn't want a bloody coffee anyway. well, you know that's a lie as i am a coffee fiend from way back. i recently found some divine indonesian coffee at the asian grocery that is excellent. i'm about to put the charcoal grill thingy together tomorrow. i found a terracotta flower pot on the side of the road that i've scrubbed. i have a grill to go on top and the whole thing will be on bricks to give it some ventilation. i hope it works. i'll let you know. i went to gaganis brothers thursday night after work but the only bbq which was suitable was madly expensive so i'll give the flower pot a go. i have tiny little basil seeds which are shooting. i put them in cotton wool in a saucer on my benchtop. i'll plant them out tomorrow if i get a chance. i also planted some sunflower seeds and they are up too. the tomatoes are doing well and the chilli still has little chillies on it. i hope they grow. i'm going to veg tonight as i'm absolutely pooped. bb for now. sorry can't put a pic up as blogger won't let me. it's not in the mood. maybe later. :(

swimming

the kids enjoyed waterworld today. it could have been a bit warmer weather wise but not too bad. the sun came out once or twice. we are going to the zoo tomorrow so hope rain stays away whilst we're there. it can bucket down before and after because we really need it. i haven't been to the zoo for ages. http://www.zoossa.com.au/adelaide-zoo

enjoy your weekend :)

i'm feeling just a wee bit proud of myself

because one of my posters was published today and i think it looks good. i've been working on another one for another activity all night and it isn't bad either. i'm pooped. i had to bring it home coz i only have publisher at work and needed something with more oomph. yay, wednesday tomorrow which means the w/end is getting closer. i've got an rdo on friday so am going to the swimming centre for their end of year thingy. should be fun, then on friday night we have our work xmas dinner. i'm taking kim to another xmas dinner tomorrow night for the orchid club. it's getting busy and i haven't finished the cards yet. actually haven't done many at all.

my new song

i watched the movie little fish again the other night (justin nguyen = major hunk) and the song flame trees was sort of the theme. i fell in love with the song which was sung by a choir of kids and i just had to have it. turns out it's by cold chisel, go figure, but it's a really nice song. cold chisel is not my fave band but you know. i like khe sahn too but don't tell anyone. i'm going to try to clean today as i didn't get much done yesterday. i did get into the market which was great although i couldn't find a bbq thingy. the best part was lunch, i found a stall that was selling malaysian satay. omg it was fantastic, i can only hope that when i get something to cook them on mine taste half as good. it took me back to you know where. :)

Friday, 28 November 2008

i'm pissed

ok, midly annoyed. the pic doesn't look it does it? for the second friday evening in a row i tried to get into the city. bloody traffic was backed up to north adelaide. so once again i went home. took ages. there was cricket or something on at the oval so that made things even slower. all i want to do is go to the market and get a hibachi. remember them? i've been cooking up a storm and it's great that you can get everything authentic at the asian supermarkets these days. nasi still doesn't quite taste the same but i'm getting there.

i'm doing christmas cards. i can't believe it's nearly christmas. i've started to get gifts. my daughter wants a wok of all things. if you knew my daughter you'd find this as amazing as i do. she's working lates so i haven't spoken to her for a week or so. i hope to see the kids tomorrow. you should see their christmas list. they must think nana is made of money. :)

well it's the weekend so have a good one

black sticky rice pudding - yum

INGREDIENTS: 1 cup black glutinous rice ¾ cup white glutinous rice 2 pandan leaves 5 cups water ½ cup palm sugar syrup 1½ cup freshly squeezed thick coconut milk
PREPARATION: 1. Rinse both lots of rice well for 2 minutes under running water. Drain 2. Put 5 cups water, both lots of rice and pandan leaf into heavy stockpot. Simmer over medium heat approximately 40 minutes. 3. Add palm sugar syrup and continue to cook until most liquid has evaporated. Season with a pinch of salt. Remove from heat and allow cooling. 4. Serve at room temperature, topped with freshly squeezed coconut milk.
Helpful hints: As fresh coconut milk turns rancid fairly quickly, a pinch of salt is usually added to the milk to help preserve it for few hours. A more effective alternative is to cook the coconut milk with 1 teaspoon of cornstarch diluted in a little water: heat gently, stirring constantly for a couple of minutes. This coconut sauce will keep overnight. Milk made from instant powdered coconut will not turn rancid, although the flavor is not as good as fresh coconut milk.

it's ok

i think this is it. looks the same but not sure.

i've lost my colour

background colour that is. i've been trying to change my photos since i got back but blogger has been fighting me all the way. that's ok. one at a time. then the other day i thought i'd change the background colour. big mistake as now i can't get the original one back. this blue isn't too bad but it doesn't seem to match. btw, i love mandy's new page colour. pink is good. speaking of blogger and it being difficult i can't put an image on this post. oh well, i didn't really want to anyway. when i press the add image button i just get a plonky noise. plonkers. lol

cravings

i am in the mood to cook indonesian food. it's pretty normal when i get back from bali. when there i eat at street stalls and local warungs. lots of nasi (cooked rice) and mei (noodles). now i have cravings. i miss those gorgeous flavours. my friend took me to a warung that i could not eat at. it was dark and very dirty and when my friend ordered squid they went to an old esky behind me and proceeded to cut it up on a cement slab over the drain then cook it using the dirtiest oil imaginable. ok, it looked ok but it turned my tum and i just couldn't go there. i don't eat seafood but love fish. my friend’s sister cooks me a whole snapper with a coating that is indescribable, so spicy and delicious. their chickens are quite small. most fruit and veg. are too. cute little pineapples that are so sweet and tasty. oh, i have the cravings bad. i suppose a visit to pondok bali is in order, it's a balinese restaurant in adelaide that has food to die for. absolutely delish. anyway, back to my cooking. i got an indonesian cookbook and i'm ready to go. wish me luck.

it's about time i posted again

although i haven't got much. back at work after one month away. now that's hard. this week has been ok i suppose. the pic is kinda cute. i'm going to lunch tomorrow down at henley square. that should be nice. i went to the city tonight after work but had to turn back after driving around bloody north adelaide for ages. all the roads in were blocked with traffic. i came home and had some frozen left overs. so exciting. well, it's the weekend so have a good one people.

i'm back

http://picasaweb.google.com/princessyevisha/BaliOctober2008 this is a link to some photos i took. click on 'slideshow' when it loads. enjoy.
well i'm back. i had the best time of course and did lots of things and saw lots of things i've not done/seen before. i met some lovely people and had a ball. i'm a bit tired and emotional still but ok. the kids came over tonight for hugs, presents and pizza. i missed them terribly. i had a dream flight from bali to perth and sat next to a vet who is working on the orangutan project in borneo. only $55 per year to sponsor one. http://www.orangutan.org.au/ i had a lovely chat with him and got through customs etc in perth quickly and effortlessly. i spent way too much money of course and i was absolutely knocked out by the news that obama is now pres. of the usa. a black man president, that's amazing. wow, maybe a woman next time? the monsters in bali haven't been put to death as i type but it won't be long. shooting is way too good for them but what can you do? it's better than keeping them in jail and treating them like bloody heroes.
i have had an unwanted visitor whilst i've been living it up in bali. a mouse!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm absolutely terrified of the little horrors and have spent most of the day disinfecting things. baits have been laid and i'm hopeful that this was a one of (should this be off?) incident and the culprit was working alone and now that i'm home will go away and leave me alone. i live in hope.

batteries

my doorbell died. it's a remote wireless type thingy. anyhoo, it's got batteries in both parts. the ringing bit and the bit on the door. i changed the batteries in the ringing bit. still doesn't work. ok, i couldn't get the bit from the door opened to get the battery out so i took it to work for B to try for me. he's so helpful. :) i bought the batteries tonight, yes, batteries. i only need one but they are in packs of two. then i remembered buying the last one. it was in a pack of two too. it's around the house somewhere. they are not cheap. of course i can't find it now can i? that was ages ago and it probably wouldn't work now anyway. my question is: why do they sell them in packs of two? do other things that take these batteries use two? i doubt it. it's not your normal common everyday battery. it's special, read expensive. it's the same with most things these days. i bought some screws recently for the kitchen shelf and i needed eight. they only came in packs of six. does the phrase gotcha by the short and curlies ring a (door) bell?

long weekend

i went to the bombay bicycle club yesterday for lunch with mazza. it was lovely. i love the decor there. today i went to see the movie 'journey to the centre of the earth' with brendan fraser in 3D. wow wow wow. i love brendan. i expected to hate the movie coz science fiction is just not my thing but brendan was in it so i went. well, let me say that i loved the movie, a lot. it was great. the 3D effects were excellent too. the last 3D movie i saw was jaws 17. that was some time ago and although it was good this was so much better. everyone was wearing those glasses which let me tell you is not a good look. we went to marion and had lunch at spargo's first. that was nice too. i've got to go now and finish my tax return. it's so hard.

my knee is stuffed

i went to physio/acupuncture tonight after work. it hurts. i'm hoping that it will get better soon as i'm planning to do a bit of walking in bali and won't be able to walk far if it doesn't improve soon. i'm massaging it with silver clove and everything else i can.

bay to birdwood

i was in the bay to birdwood yesterday. for those who don't know it's a motorcade of vintage cars that travel from the beachside suburb of glenelg to the lovely little town of birdwood sort of in the adelaide hills. i wasn't really 'in it'. i went to my local shops via north east road and just happened to join in. there were hundreds of people along the route sitting with picnic baskets and drinking wine, they were waving and had chairs and blankets.

is an ointment i bought in bali. it's supposed to be really good for arthritis and muscle pain. i've never used it much so the tin is a few years old and nearly full. my knee has been so swollen and painful lately i can hardly get up the stairs. i read on the forum the other day that someone's parents swear by it so i put it on my knee yesterday and went shopping. no difference really. i came home and pottered around and then had a nana nap for an hour. well, when i woke up i had hardly any pain in my knee at all. i came downstairs and noticed it straight away. a little bit of pain but so much better. amazing. the ointment comes in a little flat tin and holds about 20 grams. guess what i'm buying when i go to bali? apparently you can get it here but it's madly expensive. in bali it costs approx. $3.00 or something like that. i applied it again last night before bed. it smells like the typical pain ointment. clears your sinuses too. actually i think it says something about headaches on the tin. i'm amazed but have to laugh coz now i smell like an old person. my mother in law always smelt of one kind of balm or another.
my daughter and kids are coming today. that's always good.
ac/dc's new clip is on video hits and i like it. love me some ac/dc

thank you sir richard

hooray. adelaidian bali tragics, like me, are celebrating today because virgin blue now have direct flights to bali. yay. about bloody time. we used to enjoy direct flights with garuda but they cut them ages ago. too bad i've booked and paid for this trip but next time. and the fares are super cheap atm. i suppose that won't last but you never know.

http://www.sfsn.com/news/chef-spotlight.htm this is an article about my dear friend in america. he's the most amazingly gorgeous human being and also so charming. i adore him.

enjoy your weekend. if it stops raining it will be a good one. ;)

i don't really have anything to blog about but i will anyway. i'm watching the travel show on nine and they are in mexico at the butterfly sanctuary. there are millions of them. very nice. i have washing on the line and i think it's supposed to rain tomorrow. i'm tired and hope to have an early night. i hope to see my daughter and the kids on sunday. my sil is going to put a shelf up in my kitchen for me. my jasmine is out on my front fence and it's glorious. it's just a mass of flowers atm. pity that it comes out so early really but it's lovely when it does. that's about it really. bye for now

i watched charlie and the choc. factory again last night

i love that film and of course how gorgeous/cute is johnny depp? he's great in that film. so black. i'm going to visit daughter and kids in a while, might go shopping. shock horror. i've got washing on the line (instead of in the lounge room) and i've gardened. it's lovely out there. my friend from perth sent me a recipe for chocolate cake in a mug done in the microwave. i might try it today. if it works i'll post the recipe. i got some new zealand green mussel extract for my aching knee that other day. i hope it works. it was on the telly so has to be good. hahahaha NOT!!!!! i've got to take a whole lot of clothes to goodwill coz they don't fit which is a shame really coz my favourite pants are in the pile. maybe i should get them made smaller. i'd do it myself but sewing and i are not best friends. i love sewing but unfortunately it doesn't like me and i get stressed and say bad words. much better to get someone else to do it for me.

pic is by klimt. my favourite artist. i love his stuff, i've just added a gadget on my blog. the art of gustav klimt. lovely

have a nice weekend.

i don't know why i have such a thing for (some) balinese/indonesian men but i do.

the weather

yesterday was the most gorgeous day weather wise. sun was out and nice and warm. i sat in the sun and had coffee. the sky was blue, no clouds. i could see all of the new growth on the plants (actually i noticed how neglected my garden is and badly needs some attention), the birds were singing in the trees, the planes were passing overhead. all was good. i even mowed the lawn. THEN, i woke up and it's a bit grey, but it was way early so never mind. it's quarter to nine now and it's been raining and it's cold again and dull and dreary and grey. washing is drying inside yet again. oh lovely sunny day where did you go? i miss the sun. of course, having said that, you can have your 35 plus degree days. i hate the heat waves we get. i did think that the nice weather would last a bit longer though. my friend in louisiana in the us is having hurricane warnings and it's dire over there. when i go to bali in october it's going to be hot. not too hot i hope. my friend rang the other day and said it's hot over there. if he thinks it's hot now how will i cope? although it's always hot over there, even in the wet season. we got stuck in a rain storm once and i was actually cold. hahahaha you can't win with weather can you?

TGIF

yay, it's the weekend. about time i say. better homes and gardens isn't on tonight so i'm watching a kylie kwong dvd. i love cooking programs. so relaxing. actually i'm going to watch a movie later. i paid for my trip today and am getting excited. must start packing. i'm making lists as i type. nothing much else to blog about really. it was an amazing day weather wise today or so i'm told as i was inside for most of it as usual. i brought some seeds last night, cherry tomatoes and cucumber. mandy has been inspiring me to grow stuff. i hope they are successful. last season was a bad one for tomatoes apparently. if my bil can't grow them, no-one can. he grows the best tomatoes in the world. he says it's the sheep poo. ;) i may see my daughter and g/kids tomorrow for a little while. i've got to cook and clean for sunday. it's all good. :) have a good one

a bit of this and a bit of that

i got my phone bill. it's in credit. how that happened i don't know but it's good. i went to the bank today and the teller suggested i change my account to an over 55 one. lots of benefits etc. no excess on my insurance and more interest. more free atm and withdrawals etc. sounds good. but... who the hell said i'm over 55? oh, ok it's on the screen when they bring up my details. snort. also, saw the specialist who is pleased with my progress. di is coming back on the w/end so we will catch up. i'm having lunch on sunday with her ex and his new 'lady'. she's a control freak and very very jealous. apparently she doesn't even want the ex to see di's daughter who he helped bring up since she was three. hmmm bit sad really isn't it?

dinner last night

some friends from work and i went to pondok bali last night for dinner. i think it's the only balinese restaurant in adelaide but i may be wrong. we had the banquet which is so delicious. started with lumpia (spring rolls) and satay chicken. then the mains. sanur chicken, fish, beef rendang, gado gado and rice. followed by coconut pandan pancake with icecream and toffee sauce. omg. devine food. a little expensive i suppose but a lovely treat. we went straight from work so i got home about 9.30 pm which is good coz i was exhausted as it's been flat out at work this week. it's my g/son's b/day today so i'm going up there later. it's nearly seven and i woke at 5.45 am for no reason that i can see. bloody disgusting that i can't sleep. i can hear the woman next door banging around. she's an inconsiderate cow. also, it's raining so when i do the washing later i'll have to hang it on the airer thingy in the kitchen again. at least we had some lovely sunny days through the week. glorious. have a great w/end

a love poem 2

If I could have just one wish,

I would wish to wake up everyday to the sound of your breath on my neck,

the warmth of your lips on my cheek,

the touch of your fingers on my skin,

and the feel of your heart beating with mine...

Knowing that I could never find that feeling with anyone other than you.

the sun is out

and it's quite a nice day here. i found an earring i lost so that's good. made another blog. link is somewhere on the right. i'm going to lunch today with my son and family. should be nice.

i tried to fix my shower as it was spurting out to the side and annoyed me. took it apart thinking it needed cleaning but no, it's the washer thingy. it's rotten. went to the hardware store but they don't make them anymore. dayam. i had a shower and it was like standing under a hose. the gas co. sent me a free shower head but i can't get the other one off to put it on. oh well. i'm sure my sil will help.

have a lovely day where ever you are. ;)

i swear this is true

this morning i drove down my street on my way to physio/hydro. there on the very edge of the kerb was a young woman sitting in a very nice chair playing a cello. i was going quite slow but still didn't get enough of a look. i couldn't believe what i was seeing and of course i couldn't hear anything coz the windows were up and cd player was on. now you don't see that everyday in my suburb, i don't know about yours. :) i also saw two ambulances and further along a gorgeous big siamese cat. i'm partial to siamese cats. so elegant and beautiful. i still miss my vincent every day. but i could write a whole blog about that.
i broke one of my fave cups tonight. bugga. never mind i have others.
i'm watching a video of the food safari. love that show. i should be watching a movie as i brought a few dvds home tonight.
my daughter is coming for lunch tomorrow and my son is taking me out to lunch at his friend's house on sunday.
i had a reasonable sleep last night so feel heaps better than yesterday. i was in bed at 9.30 pm. unheard of usually. i'm a late to bed person. i don't have to get up until about 8.00 am but am usually up around 7. it's all good.
have a lovely weekend. enjoy whatever you get up to and stay warm if you live in the southern states of oz coz it's freezing here. :)

i'm tired

the pic is labelled 'how rainbows are made'. cute hey?
so busy at work and since my op i flag about thursday arvo and that's that. i'm pooped. i bought a piece of chicken for tea coz can't be bothered cooking and even though i cooked chicken korma the other night and froze some i couldn't face it three nights in a row. besides it tends to repeat a little if you know what i mean. anyhoo, i got a piece of chicken and some yoghurt. not just any yoghurt but moo brand mango. omg it's orgasmic. yum yum. i've just had a nice coffee and because i didn't sleep much last night i'm just about ready for bed. it's 7.00 pm. hahahaha. it's also absolutely freezing tonight. really cold. my little unit was like an icebox when i got home. oh well better go. i wonder what's on the teev tonight? enjoy your friday :)

i'm trying to diet again

i went off my diet a few months ago. you know how you just get bored/over it? well i'm back on it. i'd like to lose a bit more weight before i go back to bali in october. that's if my TA ever gets back to me. i'm starting to put stuff in a suitcase already and making lists. i'm planning on going via singapore as it's much easier (also more expensive) for me.

Friday, 15 August 2008

now why did i go and do that?

bra shopping that is. unbelievable. how can i possible look like that i ask myself. bad, very, very bad. nasty. maybe it wasn't as bad as i thought, maybe the lighting had something to do with it. maybe and maybe not. maybe the bra was too small. maybe it was just a bad fit. maybe maybe maybe. next time i'm wearing dark glasses and refuse to look in that mirror. ah the mirror, maybe it was the mirror. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh oh yeah, the pic is of one cute bali boy who although cute may be a horrible person who kicks his dog. maybe and maybe not. i'm in a mood, can you tell?

the divine miss audrey hepburn

how gorgeous is this woman? divine creature although in this movie she's terribly thin. she wears clothes so beautifully, yes i know they are designed just for her and cost a bomb. i'm watching a movie i've never seen before which is amazing as i thought i'd seen all of her movies. this one is on abc2 and titled paris when it sizzles. it's very cute. i had pizza tonight so there goes the diet although i've been fairly good this week. it's rotten weather here, so cold and wet. i may go to the market with my son and his family and then breakfast tomorrow. not sure yet. we'll see. i spent the afternoon cleaning my room, going through my clothes and then my jewellery boxes. untangling all the chains, sorting and just pottering around basically. i visited Kim this morning as i haven't seen her for ages. she was so lovely bringing me food and visiting when i was sick. oh well, back to the movie. enjoy your sunday. <3

remember when i killed the stereo

well it's come back to life. haleloojah. :) i thought i'd get the discs out of it so naturally had to power it up to do so. well you could have knocked me over with a feather when it lit up like the proverbial christmas tree. it's a miracle if a minor one. works perfectly. i'm rolling on the floor etc etc
btw, is this ancient egyptian statue of a woman really michael jackson? eerie yes?

i knew she would

well well well. she did it. she changed her blog back to 'everyone and anyone can read'. i'm very happy of course but feel a bit like i've got bi-polar or something. up down, happy sad. it's freaky. ok, not freaky but if she changes it back again i'm in trouble. i can't stand the tension.

first day back at work today and i went quite well. bit of pain. went to the physio for an assessment for hydro and start that on wednesday.

friends came over last night for pizza. di is moving to cairns. i'll miss her. other friend is crazy about garth brooks and drives me insane with his dvd. she talks with a western accent now and i can't take much more. he's kind of cute but at the same time not. like robbie williams. sometimes hot and sometimes not. not like steven tyler who is hot all the time except that he's getting old, but still hot. :) most people wouldn't agree with me.

i'm definately going to ring the TA this week and check out Bali in October. it's time. i need a bali holiday. i wonder what the weather is like in october? it's the dry season and hot, i wonder how hot?

oh well gotta go, border patrol is on. :)

the blog is still invitation only but i just know that any day now she's going to change it back to the way it was.
i just came back from a visit to the g/kids and my daughter. we went shopping and had a nice lunch. all good. i meant to take some stuff and dye my hair but didn't get around to it. next time.
i'm having a night in tonight. my son has a gig in town i would like to go to but it's cold out there. i might watch an audrey hepburn movie on abc2. have a good one :)

fritz fritz fritz (i'm from SA, if you are not read devon devon devon)

you won't believe this (i've used this heading before i think) but the blog that i took ages to find, the one that i spent hours and hours searching for, the blog that i missed so much when i couldn't find it, yes, that one, well the blogger has gone and made it 'invitation only'. omg. the irony is just staggering. ahhhhh

i've just made myself another blog. it's all about my dreams. feel free to add yours if you'd like. the link is on the right. :)

Friday, 25 July 2008

i think these were taken in china but you see this kind of thing all over asia. my favourite in bali is a family of four or five on the one bike. amazing and the best balancing act ever. necessity being the mother of invention and all that. :)

i found it yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

i'm so happy. happy. happy. i found the blog i lost when i re-installed and i'm so happeeeeeeeeeee. yay. i have lots of reading to catch up on. the writer is such a pain really but i love her blogs. i've been obsessing and searching for it every day. going through thousands of blogs even though i said to myself i wouldn't. i couldn't help it. exhausting. i only thought tonight that i will never find it and i should give up. but then......... yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. hahahahaha. so happy. going to bed now.
ps. pic is MY beach in bali. it's amazing. they farm seaweed there. sort of a seaplant thingy. they make cosmetics etc out of it. there's a cemetery right at the end under the temple on the cliff and a large hotel. MY tree is just about where this is taken. i want to go there again when i go back.

physio and painkillers

cake anyone? cute hey?
hello. i hate physio. it hurts. and now i have to do it 4 times a day instead of two. simple exercises but painful. never mind. painkillers are not working terribly well but are making me fuzzy minded and forgetful. i think i may have mentioned this in a previous blog. dr said i can go back to work monday which will be interesting as i can't dress myself properly yet or drive but i'm sure i'll manage somehow. :)
i went shopping with my daughter and g/children today. both kids have been great during my recovery. i must say i don't like the way my daughter drives though. don't tell her but she's a crap driver. she sits way too close to the car in front and makes me very nervous. i make a concerted effort not to watch the road. i'm eating too much. i've just about finished the frozen pre-made meals in my freezer. some have been really delish and others not so much. i had something the other night that was in the later category. it was beef and had beans in it. that's all i know. i should have labelled them. then i had a really delicious one, i wish i knew how i made it. yummo.
i'm on the third disc of 'third rock from the sun'. oh well. i hope you are well and happy. keeping warm/cool where ever you are. :) bye

Sunday, 20 July 2008

i want one of these for my birthday please. :)
hello. how are you? i'm fine. getting better. still finding it hard to turn on taps and shower and dress myself but getting better. i'm trying to cut down on the pain medication. i'm trying for four a day instead of six. i was taking eight. too many. the other day i was really out of it. dizzy and nauseous. can't remember things (worse than usual). ahhhh i'm going nuts. my daughter has been great. my son took me to the market this morning (it was pouring) and then to a cafe for breakfast. i had a lovely time. he finally got a new phone today, he left it on the roof of the car a few months ago and it fell off (naturally). he could only use it near the airport, i know, crazy. i've been watching the dvd of 'third rock from the sun'. i love this tv show. it's great watching lots of episodes one after the other. no commercials, and besides sleeping and eating i can't do much else. i got a mad craving for chocolate tonight and as i can't drive and it is too far to walk to the shops at night i did without. ahhhhhhhh. need chocolate. anyhoo, i hope you are well. keeping warm and all that. i'm going to the specialist on tuesday to hear when i can go back to work. that will be interesting as i can't drive yet. bye
